Addressing Coronavirus (COVID-19) Life Insurance Concerns

With the ongoing coronavirus (Covid-19) situation, you may be worried about how coronavirus could affect the life insurance application process or policy. We want to address any concerns you might have about taking out a policy during the pandemic. 

Does Zestylife Over 50 Life Insurance cover death as a result of coronavirus (Covid-19)? 

Once you have secured your policy, you are covered from day one for death by any cause. There is no waiting period with Zestylife but if you pass away within the first 12 months of your policy, there is a maximum payout of £5,000. 

If I have tested positive for Covid-19, can I still take out a policy with Zestylife?

When applying for cover with Zestylife, we will ask if in the last 14 days, have you tested positive for COVID-19 and/or suffered from any symptoms of COVID-19 for example; high temperature, fever and/or a new cough or have you been in contact with anyone who has a confirmed diagnosis of, or is suspected to have COVID-19 (coronavirus). Your answer could affect your application.

I’ve been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19, how will this affect my application?

Again, you must state if you have been in close contact with anyone who has had a confirmed diagnosis for the Covid-19 virus as this can affect your chances of securing a policy. 

Can the cost of my insurance premiums increase as a result of coronavirus?

The cost of your monthly premiums will remain the same for the duration of your policy if you choose a level term policy type. If you choose an increasing policy type, your monthly premiums will rise each year by 4.5% on your policy anniversary. Coronavirus will not affect the cost of your premiums.

I’m concerned about missing a payment due to coronavirus

Your policy will end if two consecutive premium payments are missed. If you’re concerned that you will miss a payment on your policy due to Coronavirus, please get in touch as soon as possible. You can contact us on 0800 152 2190.

Will coronavirus affect the time it takes to process claims?

Due to the sometimes urgent nature of making a life insurance claim, we aim to process claims as quickly as possible so that your loved ones can access the money they need when the time comes.
